Week-2

Progress & Pause .1

Sketching the storyboard

I first thought I should simply just sketch all the visuals before trying to adapt to the decided visual style (Mata ni Pachedi) and I used chatGPT to convert the myths provided into narratives (fig). After a discussion with Andreas, I realised that I need a target audience in order to have a tone of language and visuals. While we discussed that my project outcome could be for adolescents, I am still feeling a little unsure about the target audience, or who my work could contribute to.

Consultations and feedback

At this point, it seems I just keep conceptualising instead of beginning to experiment. Andreas suggests that I should instantly test any concept that comes to mind as it will give me a better idea of what works and what doesn’t. Andreas gave me a task - to have a storyboard and the narratives by next week.

Current thoughts - I am sort of beginning to feel a little stuck. I don’t know what to do next or where to iterate my work to. It makes me feel a little anxious and worried because I want to have a prototype by week - 4 along with a final dissertation draft. However, feeling a bit lost has slowed down the progress.

Mock-up

I was planning to make a tunnel book, but now it is starting to feel like I could make it quite complex and maybe I should start simple first. Following a youtube tutorial I made a simple pop-up that embodies the following part of the narrative: “the wall standing still during the day would suddenly fall apart at night”. While the pop-up was successful I feel like it would be more interesting to have a single spread where the wall falls apart (fig).
